Mack Day has a prosthetic leg, lost in a car accident which also took his wife and daughter. His life now rests in routine: part-time teaching, grading papers, breakfast at the same diner. His home remains covered in dust since the loss of his family. Then he spots a tiny sequined doll in the Fun Grabber of the diner, and she seems to be asking for his help.
