When Claire announces that she is moving out, Walter knows exactly who his fiancé is running off to – the fellow grad student who always made Walter feel like the third wheel. There is nothing about him that Walter finds appealing, and his resentment is slowly turning into a dangerous hatred. If he can’t stop Claire from leaving, he can at least prevent her from having a place to go.
