Birdie has never considered herself to be an overly superstitious person, but she believes there is power in the number three. She had some fun in college with her odd, mystical roommate Livia, but it was nothing serious. As an adult, she finds herself questioning the world around her more and more. After her fourth miscarriage, believing in anything good becomes more difficult. She has memories from her childhood that she has always dismissed as bad dreams, but she begins to wonder if maybe she is cursed.
