Nearly every night he can hear the pack of wild dogs rummaging through the trash just outside his window, his own beloved dog barking desperately from the backyard. They’re always scared away by the sound of his father’s shotgun. Growing wise to this, the dogs return much quieter. The next day, the family is left with a mess and their own dog has gone missing. He prays for the return of his childhood pet, but when that day comes, it’s not at all what the family expected.
